Twitty. Mr. John R, Mercer, of Elm City, is here on a visit. Guest of Mr. W. A. Graham, The Warren Guards will go into en campment at Wnghts villa on the 20th. for five days. Mrs-. H. B. Jaokson and daughter, left Tuesday foi Richmond and from thence to Norfolk and Va. Beach. Mrs. Young ami daughter, Miss Mary, from Louisburg, were visitois in the city this week. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. H, Miles. Mr. E. J. Freeman and family ieft Saturday for Loco, Va. to spend some time. We wish them a pleasant visit and cafe return. Mrs. Henry Williams and daughter, Miss Lena, left Tuesday for Grand Rapid, Mioh., to visit Messrs. Harry and W. K. Williams. Mr. Robt. R. Palmer, of Plymouth, was in town Tuesday. Mr. Palmer is Visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. M. Palmer, at Macon this week. - Mr. Louis Thompson, of the Fork, took his little daughter, Sue, to the Virginia Hospital in Richmond last Thursday for treatment. Mrs. John B. and Mrs. Percy Wil liams, of Philadelphia, Pa., are here on a visit to Mr. and Mrs, S. B. Wil liams and other relatives, . The Board of Education was in session Monday and transacted some business in regard to a school on the Vance and Warren county lines. Mr. James H. Edwards and Miss Mattie C, Daniel, both of Henderson, were married Wednesday, July 5th. 1905. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs, S. A. Daniel, of Afton, this county,and is a charming young woman, while the groom is a popular young man and is a employee of the Home Telephone and Telegraph Co. The Warren County Cotton Growers Association will hold their monthly meeting on the first Saturday in August. Let every member of the Association get ready to attend this meeting. We are in favor of taking down some "Of the old wooden buildings - on Main street, and erecting in their stead handsome brick buildings. There is not a respectable store room in town for rest. We publish elsewhere an advertise ment of Littleton Female College to which we wish to call special attention. TMs istitution has had a remarkable history and is one of the most success ful school in the South. The little six weeks old infant sou of Rev. and Mrs. L. M. Chaffin, of Ridge way, died Tuesday of last week, July 4th. Rev B. C. Ailred conducted the funeral services at Union church on Wednesday, The bereaved family have our sympathy. Dr. I. E. Green, of Weldon, was here Monday to see his mother, Mrs. Mary Green, who had the misfortune to fall from the Episeopal chuich door one day last week and braise herself right badly. She is better now and we hope soon to see her out. ' Mr. E. L. Green tells us that the steam drill and rock crusher are work ing nicely and thai he hopes to have the condition of Main street consider ably improved in a few days. He has a good force of hands and everything has started of? nicelj . Our worthy P. M,, Mrs. Maty Green, had the misfortune to lose her footing a few days "ago, which caused her a fall and a very serious shock. She has been in bed ever since, but this a. m. she is comfortable aud we hope will eoon be iu her usual place. The Seaboard Air Line will run an excursion from Norlina to Norfolk on Friday, July 21st., leaving Norlina at 6 a. m., arriving at Portsmouth at 9:50 a. m. Returning, leave Portsmouth at 7:30 p. m. Fare for the round trip $1 :75. This is a nice opportunity to spend the day at lhe seacoast. Mr. Andrew J. Wynn, of Ridgeway, was found dead in bed Wednesday morning. He, had not been in good health for quite a while and death oo cured from heart failure. Mr. Wynn was seventy odd years old.' His death removes one cf the best citi&ons from his community. The Recoed extends sympathy to the bereaved family. On Tuesday July 18th. at 8 o'clock p. m., at the Auditorium of the War renton High School, there will be a musioale given by Mrs. J. O. MoCraw, Jr., assisted by Misses Mary Holton and Mattie Caroline Hunter and Mr. Tasker Polk. Admission 50 and 25 cents. The proceeds derived there from will be used to place granite steps around the Confederate Monument at Fairview cemetery. Eeligious Notice.
